The role of the 1st Vice State Representative is to perform duties assigned by the Georgia State Representative and to provide oversight and support to all standing committees. Without question I have the desire, experience and skills to deliver exceptionally on those responsibilities. However, I wish to go beyond that and am uniquely positioned with my many years of fraternal service to offer COMPLIMENTARY thought partnership to the State Representative in his efforts to carry out his vision. To that regard, I offer...
"B.L.O.C.K." FOR A BOLDER BROTHERHOOD
B - reak Down Barriers
To break down the barriers that divide the members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. (graduate vs. undergraduate; seasoned vs. young brothers) I will work to focus efforts on One Omega. I will seek to enact the “Building Bridge Builders” mentoring and education program, where younger brothers on both the undergraduate and graduate levels will be intentionally paired with older brothers in an effort to provide fraternal guidance and teach them how to become bridge builders in their own right for the brothers that will follow them. A structured curriculum will be developed and implemented to aid in this process.
L - everage Omega's Brand
Grand Basileus Bro. Dr. David Marion in past remarks has said that Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. has a known brand but not a strong brand and that it’s our responsibility to make sure the brand is strong through our commitment to our cardinal principles, partnerships and statue in life. To that regard, I will work to strengthen Omega’s brand and image within the State of Georgia by developing a “Brand Awareness Campaign” (catchy name TBD) that will in turn allow us to leverage opportunities to partner with local corporations and community organizations for greater impact.
O - ptimize Performance
I plan to use my organizational skills and expertise to enhance the State of Georgia Organization’s processes and practices. As one example, I will work to support fraternity growth and retention through the development of a comprehensive, uniformed Membership Selection Process (MSP) Post Education Program that will help ensure new initiates are equipped to best embrace and serve the Fraternity from day one.
C - ourageous Leadership
A deep and abiding sense of courage is a quality that separates good leaders from great ones. With all things Omega I will commit to act with bravery and courage to drive organizational success within the State Organization of Georgia and the Fraternity. I will work to foster engagement and cohesion amongst the brotherhood around our common aim and oath.
K - eep Omega First
“…Keep Omega the most difficult Greek letter Society in which to obtain membership and be assured that Omega material will never be found lacking.” – Walter Herbert Mazyck (Alpha Chapter 1916). In an effort to help ensure that Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. has a pipeline of young black men that are trained and ready to be leaders in the Fraternity and assets to their communities I will look to establish the State of Georgia Emerging Leaders Institute. This institute will prepare fellows to not just take on leadership roles within the Fraternity but position them to be fully engaged in improving communities across the State of Georgia.
